The Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant is located in the front of Qiweishan mountain, Qianxu village, Sanshan Township, Fuqing city, Fujian province, surrounded by the sea on east, south and west sides. The Fuqing nuclear project was planned to build six 1000 MW pressurized water reactor units with a total investment of nearly 100 billion RMB. Construction on Unit 1 began on 21 November 2008 and commercial operations began on 22 November 2014, followed by Unit 2 on 17 June 2009 with commercial operations on 16 October 2016, Unit 3 on 31 December 2010 with commercial operations on 24 October 2016, and Unit 4 on 17 November 2012 with commercial operations on 17 September 2017. Two Hualong I type pressurized water reactors were built for Units 5 and 6. Construction on Unit 5 began on 7 May 2015, with reactor building dome hoisting completed on 25 May 2017, entering the stage equipment installation. Construction on Unit 6 began on 22 December 2015, with currently earthwork currently under way.
