To implement Xi Jinping’s idea on ecological conservation and carry out the theme activity on “What should I do for winning the tough battle for prevention and control of pollution” deployed by MEE leading Party group, MEE/NWRO third Party Brach, as a investigation team, on 25~27 February travelled to CNNC Tianshan Uranium Industry Co., Ltd to investigate radiation environment safety.

The investigation team went to the front lines to discuss with the technicians on site the way to exchange and explore the technology process of in-situ uranium leaching mining, and explored how to reduce the impact of leachate on groundwater and how to collect resulting radioactive waste. The team required Tianshan Company to establish a comprehensive environmental protection system covering environment organization establishment, radioactive waste management, radiation protection, drawing-out and infusion ratio control, groundwater monitoring, and emergency proposal. During investigation, the team has witnessed the completion acceptance of environmental protection project for extension (phase II) of in-situ uranium leaching mining project at Mengqiguer uranium ore deposit.

As the next step, MEE/NWRO will continue to explore new ideas and innovation of methodology, and will firmly enhance Four Consciousnesses. MEE/NWRO will intensify oversight inspection of the uranium mining enterprises, and further improve the professional quality of regulatory oversight to take the concrete actions to contribute to winning the Tough Battle in a pragmatic way.
