Guided by ECNROS, the National Workshop on Radiation Environmental Monitoring and Emergency was held successfully on 4th July 2018 in Haiyang city, Shandong province. This was hosted by Radiation Environment Monitoring Technology Center (REMTC) in cooperation with Shandong Nuclear and Radiation Safety Monitoring Center (SNRSMC). Attending the meeting were representatives from MEE, provincial nuclear and radiation environmental monitoring stations in all regions, provincial eco-environmental departments, NPPs, and operators of major nuclear facilities nationwide.
The representatives, from REMTC, ECNROS, SNRSMC, provincial eco-environmental departments of Shandong, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Sichuan and Hainan, and Shandong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co., Ltd, talked about each other their experiences learned in aspects of regulatory inspection of state-controlled network and supervisory monitoring operation status, the construction, operation and inspection of supervisory monitoring system, nuclear and radiation emergency, and public information dissemination. The participants visited the Haiyang NPP to learn from the experiences presented in supervisory monitoring system construction, operation and management and public information dissemination on nuclear and radiation safety.
The workshop fully affirmed the achievements made by all participating parties in national radiation environmental monitoring and emergency, and systematically summarized the experiences learned from radiation environmental monitoring work in recent years. It also analyzed the new trends, opportunities and challenges in regulatory control over current nuclear and radiation safety, and implemented the future deployment of radiation environmental monitoring, emergency and public information dissemination. Various participating parties were required to implementing the following tasks: carrying out serious study and implementation of the spirit of the 19th National Party Congress of CPC and the spirit of National Conference on Eco-environmental Protection; deepening system reform for constructing scientific and high-efficient regulatory system; strengthening hardware and software building as a whole; promoting the construction of automatic stations; enhancing sustainably radiation environmental monitoring and emergency work; improving public information dissemination; preventing and mitigating the occurrence of nuclear Not-In-My-Back-Yard (NIMBY) problems.
