The first Sino-Czech nuclear safety cooperation conference was held on 25-26 May 2018 in Prague, Czech Republic.
The both sides described each of their respective nuclear safety regulatory frameworks and recent regulatory activities that are important to nuclear safety. Chinese side detailed the development status of nuclear power, nuclear safety regulatory system, the overall safety situation in China’s nuclear industry, as well as the important progress achieved since the implementation of the Nuclear Safety Act. Czech side also introduced its nuclear power development and regulatory organizational framework.
Subsequently, the both sides discussed the cooperation issues on nuclear safety for 2018-2019 and the exchange of personnel and information in the areas of the regulatory system building, nuclear safety review and emergency preparedness response. The two sides also signed the nuclear safety cooperation plans in above-mentioned areas. After the meeting, China side visited the Czech technology research and development centers and Temerin nuclear power plant, and made technology exchanges with Czech side on research and development of nuclear power safety technology as well as nuclear power project construction.
The conference identified detailed bilateral cooperative activities on nuclear safety, and deepened mutual understanding of both sides’ nuclear safety regulatory bodies, which initiating a good start for bilateral cooperation on nuclear safety.
