On 10 June 2018, Liu Hua, deputy minister of MEE and director of NNSA, and his accompanied staff made a trip to Tianwan NPP for investigation. Liu underlined that nuclear safety is an important part of national security. He calls for the vast of nuclear power builders to improve their political perspectives, and strengthen Four Consciousnesses. They are supposed to pay high attention to ecological and environmental protection, and to make better nuclear power safety work by maintaining a high degree of consistency with CPC Central Committee in ideology, politics and actions. Among the accompanied staff there were Xiang Xuelong, Secretary of CPC Lianyungang City committee, and Yang Changli, a member of the party group and deputy general manager of CNNC.
During his visit, Liu and his accompanied staff visited the laboratories of gaseous effluent sampling at Units 1 and 2 and the main control room at Unit 3. He made a spot survey at Units 7 and 8’s sites and the drain outlets of the plant. He heard the reports on the overall situation of Jiangsu nuclear power construction in aspects of production and operation, project construction and safety management. Liu fully affirmed the achievements made in safe and steady operation of Tianwan NPP Units 1~3 and in steady advancement of Unit 4~6 project construction. He also expressed his thanks for the active role played for a long time by Tianwan NPP in optimizing Jiangsu province’ energy resource structure.
Liu spoke that we should conscientiously study and implement Nuclear Safety Act to ensure laws and regulations put in place, and compact the operator’s main safety responsibility; adhere to the attitude and style of “rigorous, careful, meticulous and robust”, and always adhere to conservative decision-making; insist on problem-oriented methodology and carry out analysis of the root cause for ensuring safe operation of the nuclear unit; assure the quality of the project construction, installation and commissioning work for creating civilized construction site consistent with the environmental protection standards; promote the continued popularization and dissemination of nuclear power science knowledge, and strengthen communication to the public; make people understand and support nuclear power expansion and create a good environment of nuclear power expansion.
Yang Changli said the CNNC will lead all of staff and personnel to carry forward the spirit of nuclear industry “The career is above everything. The responsibility is heavier than everything. Strictness and meticulousness integrate in everything. Progressive attitude makes everything”. It is important to keep up with the national development strategy and make greater contributions to the country's nuclear power development and local economic construction.
