The Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant III is a proved CANDU6 version of heavy water reactor plant, with a totally installed capacity of 2×728 MW and a designed 40-year operation life. Integrated localization rate is about 55%. With construction beginning on 8 June 1998, Unit 1 first came online on 19 November 2002 and began commercial operations on 31 December 2002. Construction on Unit 2 followed on 25 September 1998 and first came online on 12 June 2003, beginning commercial operations on 24 July 2002.
