The Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant II is a Phase II project on the Qinshan site, housing the two 650 MWe Chinese-designed CNP650 pressurized water reactors, with a designed 40-year operation life. Integrated localization rate is about 55% and later extended to about 70%. Construction on Units 1 and 2 began in June 1966 and March 1977, respectively, entering commercial operation in April 2002 and May 2004, respectively. The expanded project, Units 3 and 4, began simultaneously to be constructed on 28 April 2006. Unit 3 started supplying power to the electricity supply grid on 5 October 2010 and Unit 4 followed on 30 December 2011.
