Ministry of Ecology and Environment (National Nuclear Safety Administration) Held the Sixth Operating Experience Feedback Meeting in 2023

On December 27, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (National Nuclear Safety Administration) held the sixth operating experience feedback meeting in 2023 at the National R&D Station for Nuclear and Radiation Safety Regulatory Technology, at which Dong Baotong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Administrator of the National Nuclear Safety Administration, attended and delivered a speech. A report on the radiation monitoring work activities was introduced, and representatives exchanged ideas.

It was pointed out in the meeting that radiation monitoring, as the fundamental work of nuclear safety and radioactive contamination prevention and control, is an important for nuclear and radiation safety management and nuclear emergency decision-making. All departments and entities shall resolutely implement Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, benchmark with various decisions and resolutions of the National Conference on Ecological and Environmental Protection, further heighten the political position, comprehensively strengthen radiation monitoring, improve the quality of radiation monitoring data, and provide strong guarantee to nuclear safety with high-quality.

It was requested in the meeting that nuclear utilities and nuclear power plant operators shall improve the radiation monitoring work in the context of standardization and intensive reform; all nuclear power plant operators shall implement the main responsibility for nuclear safety and radiation contamination prevention and control, and well monitor the effluents; they shall continue to improve the regulatory capacity of radiation monitoring and enhance the supervision and oversight of effluents monitoring from nuclear facilities; and that they shall shore up the research and development of radiation monitoring technology and improve the level of automatic monitoring.

Representatives of the National Energy Administration, the National Energy Administration, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence, relevant departments of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (National Nuclear Safety Administration), regional offices, the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Centre, the National Marine Environmental Monitoring Centre, the Radiation Monitoring Technical Centre, ecological and environmental departments of relevant provinces, representatives of nuclear utilities and some nuclear power plant operators, and major radiation monitoring institutions attended this meeting.
