Since implementing the Nuclear Safety Act of the People’s Republic of China on 15 April 2018, the third National Security Education Day has come. “Nuclear and Radiation Community” Brand has also ushered in the first anniversary of his creation. Jiangsu Radiation Protection Association, in partner with Jiangsu Nuclear and Radiation Safety Regulatory Oversight Center, held a celebration event for its first anniversary of the creation of Nuclear Radiation Community Brand.
This event was held at the Nanjing Luboyuan Subway Station, the country’s first subway station entitled with “environmental protection”. On the event scene, the moving large screen repeatedly aired the video of nuclear power, electricity generation while the multimedia information platform told the stories for the public of the nuclear and radiation safety and protection knowledge that are professional, fun and reasonable. The personnel distributed enthusiastically the propaganda materials about “Nuclear and Radiation Community” brand to the public. Some of staff answered the questions of the public concern on a one by one basis. Live demonstrations of electromagnetic radiation measuring instruments were conducted. Many citizens had their own mobile phone monitored with great interest along with consulting the relevant national standards on electromagnetic radiation. The narrators told wide varieties of stories from children’s playing cell- phone and discharging to energy resources including fossil energy and renewable energy. During this event, children and their parents took active part in interactions with “Fuwa Community” Director and robot. The above interactions were conducted cheerfully and happily, promoting the understanding of nuclear electricity generation and nuclear safety culture.
Since creation of “Nuclear and Radiation Community” brand, the events to build nuclear safety culture and popularize nuclear and radiation knowledge have aroused extensive attention. These events were conducted by means of combinations of active response to concerns of the public, traditional media and new media convergence, online and offline collaboration, support by relevant expert teams, by creating multimedia Internet platform, public WeChat platform, nuclear and radiation micro-video, live webcasting, and by making efforts major efforts to popularizing culture of nuclear safety through various channels to enhance public understanding of nuclear safety. Over the past one year, a total of more than 5 million people participated in the events by clicking or in other ways. This year Jiangsu will make continued effort to deepen the construction of “Nuclear and Radiation Community” brand, prepare a hundred of micro-video program, develop nuclear and radiation micro lecture, produce nuclear power documentary and promote cooperation and co-construction of the brand program.
